It was an early season Big 12 showdown in mens’ basketball last night in Norman as the 6th ranked Sooners played host to number eleven Texas Both teams won conference openers on Saturday and the big Monday win goes to Oklahoma 78-63. O-U’s Blake Griffin scored 20 points and pulled down 15 boards. He called the win important for the 16-1 Sooners.

A.J. Abrams led Texas in scoring with 27 points. But, he hit on only 8-27 from the field and 3-15 from beyond the three-point arc. The Horns fall to 12-4.

Meanwhile, Sherry Coales’ Oklahoma women have climbed to number three in the latest A-P top 25.

Colbert will travel to Caddo to highlight the Tuesday night slate of Bryan County basketball.

The Durant girls are rated number Seven in this weeks OK-Rankings dot com class 5a poll. Colbert is 18 in 2A and Caddo is 10 in Class A.

The Rock Creek boys are third in Class A and Kingston is 12 in 3A.

In the NBA, the Oklahoma City Thunder lost at New Jersey 103-99 in overtime. Dallas will travel to Denver tonight.

In college football,

Oklahoma all-American defensive tackle Gerald McCoy says he will skip the NFL draft and remain in school for his junior season.

While McCoy is staying, Indianapolis head coach Tony Dungy is retiring, for a second time.

and,on the Ice, Trevor Daley scored the game-winning goal as the Dallas Stars skated by the Detroit Red Wings 5-4 at the American Airlines Center.
